Dr. Kathleen Cowie is a family physician with a special interest in women and children’s health. She is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for providing compassionate medical care at home and abroad, having volunteered on outreach trips in Honduras, Peru, Bolivia, and Guatemala. Dr. Cowie graduated from Loyola Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2006 but fell in love with the Colorado Rockies while completing her family medicine residency at St. Anthony Central/North Hospitals in Denver. Prior to joining the Care Clinic in 2012, she provided full-spectrum family medicine including obstetrics and newborn care at Salud Family Health Centers in Commerce City and Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton. Dr. Cowie became Chief Medical Officer in 2017. In her free time, she loves doing all things outdoors and spending time with her family.
Erin joined the Care Clinic as the Dental Coordinator when the Care Clinic first implemented dental services in 2007. She subsequently spent 10 years as the School Based Health Director before returning to the Dental Department as the Chief Dental Officer in 2018. In her 35+ years in Summit County, Erin has served in various leadership positions including on the boards of Summit School District, Early Childhood Options, and the Colorado Association of School Based Health Centers. Erin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Iowa. She loves all that Summit County has to offer for recreation and spends her weekends skiing at Arapahoe Basin.
Megan joined the Care Clinic in 2015 as a Dental Hygienist and she helped to implement the SMILES and COMDI programs in the School Based Health Centers. Megan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado and an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Pueblo Community College. She is a Colorado native.
Lindsey Distler, LPC LAC, received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University. Lindsey has been working in the nonprofit field since 2014. Her clinical work focusing on supporting adults with the mental health and substance use concerns, and provides affirming care for the LGBTQ+ community. Lindsey works with folx experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use and other mood disorders, as well as managing life transitions and relationship concerns. She currently offers in-person and telehealth individual counseling appointments on a limited basis.
Additionally, Lindsey is serving as the Interim Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness, working to develop and implement different programs within the Behavioral Health and Wellness Department. She is the point of contact for all interested counseling in training, practicum and internships students. Before arriving in Colorado, Lindsey worked at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Ohio for 6 years, conducting intensive outpatient individual and group sessions for folx engaging in opiate use. Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys hiking, reading, climbing, and cooking.
Hannah joined the Care Clinic in 2023, bringing with her eight years of experience in the FQHC and Quality Improvement realms. An Anthropologist by training, Hannah is passionate about designing programs that support vulnerable populations and provide the most safe, effective care possible for patients. In her free time, Hannah serves in leadership in search and rescue organizations and enjoys playing outside with her family all year long.
Karen started her career in 2012 as a Medical Assistant. Her experience working directly with patients gave her a deep understanding of what works and what doesn't work on the clinical floor and how leadership interaction affects all patient-facing staff members and patient outcomes. Karen's role as Clinical Manager has given her the opportunity to support all clinical staff members and to give the best quality of care to patients.
Karen's motto is that to take care of people, we need to take care of ourselves, and the way she does this is by exploring the beautiful outdoors in her free time.
Liz joined the Care Clinic in 2020. She graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Liz pursued her career in nonprofit management and has worked in programming and development for arts, cultural, and educational organizations in Winter Park, Boulder and Vail, Colorado. A third generation native of Colorado, she has lived more than half her life on the Western Slope and spends her free time exploring the surrounding mountains on skis, bikes and in a great pair of hiking boots.
Araceli joined the Care Clinic in 2007 as a Dental Assistant. With almost twenty years in the dentistry field, her passion for taking care of patients has been her main focus. She enjoys taking care of people of all ages and loves seeing patients walking out with a smile on their face after a great dental experience. As the Lead Dental Assistant, she takes great pride in training the staff to be great dental assistants. Before Araceli’s career in the dentistry field she was a professional pastry chef making high end desserts and wedding cakes. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family going on hikes with her dog, camping, cooking, and watching movies.
Amanda joined the Care Clinic in 2019 as a Dental Patient Access Representative. Before becoming the Dental Clinic Manager in 2021, she had worked as the School Based Health Dental Coordinator and Dental Schedule and Referral Coordinator. Amanda has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sustainability Studies from Colorado Mountain College. She is a fifth generation Colorado native and when not at the clinic she is busy spending time with family, caring for her chickens, gardening, fishing, camping, foraging, and baking.
