Dr. Kathleen Cowie is a family physician with a special interest in women and children’s health. She is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for providing compassionate medical care at home and abroad, having volunteered on outreach trips in Honduras, Peru, Bolivia, and Guatemala. Dr. Cowie graduated from Loyola Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2006 but fell in love with the Colorado Rockies while completing her family medicine residency at St. Anthony Central/North Hospitals in Denver. Prior to joining Elevated Community Health in 2012, she provided full-spectrum family medicine including obstetrics and newborn care at Salud Family Health Centers in Commerce City and Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton. Dr. Cowie became Chief Medical Officer of ECH in 2017. In her free time, she loves doing all things outdoors and spending time with her family.

Dr. Jennifer Camello Tomback is a family medicine physician who loves to see patients of all ages and stages – from pediatrics to prenatal care to geriatrics. She graduated with a degree in Anthropology from University of Southern California, then graduated medical school from Rush University in 2020. Afterwards, she completed her family medicine residency at University of Colorado. Dr. Camello Tomback is originally from Chicago, but she fell in love with the mountain lifestyle and decided to move to Summit County after residency. She began working at Elevated Community Health in 2023. She is especially passionate about climate change and health – she has written multiple op-eds and advocated on the state and national levels regarding this topic. In her free time, she enjoys reading sci-fi/fantasy books, skiing, fly fishing, and hiking with her dog and husband.

Tara Edick is a Physician Associate working in Family Medicine. She is originally from central New York but moved to Colorado after college where she attended PA school at Red Rocks Community College Physician Assistant program, graduating in 2002. Tara worked in pediatrics at a Community Health Center for many years in Denver, before moving to Summit County where she began working in Family Medicine. She was drawn to Elevated Community Health because she is bilingual in English and Spanish and enjoys working with the LatinX community. She loves providing education to patients so they can learn how to improve their own health. In her free time, Tara enjoys spending time with family, gardening, yoga, reading and enjoying Colorado’s great outdoors.

Jennifer Kagan has been a Family Nurse Practitioner with Elevated Community Health since 2017. She first came to Summit County in 1994 to ski and play in the mountains after graduating from the University of Vermont. She developed a passion for health and wellness that led her to go back to school for nursing. Jennifer received her AAS in nursing from Community College of Denver in 1991, worked in critical care and emergency nursing for 15 years while continuing her nursing education at Regis University in Denver. She graduated with her BSN in 2011 and her MSN in 2018. When she isn’t at the clinic she loves hiking, cross country skiing, gardening, and spending time at the beach with her husband, 12-year-old chihuahua Izzy and kittens, Frank and Beans.

Stephany Chalarca is originally from Colombia and came to Colorado for the first time in 2014. She fell in love with the mountains and decided to move Summit County. Stephany studied English as a Second Language at the Colorado Mountain College before graduating as a journalist and working a few years in the communications field. Translation services has become Stephany’s specialty and passion. She enjoys helping patients with their healthcare needs by being the communication bridge between them and their providers. Stephany also loves the outdoors, camping, paddleboarding during the summer and snowboarding when it gets cold.

After dental school, Dr. Kopytek completed a General Practice Residency at the Rocky Mountain Regional Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Aurora, CO. She is passionate about continued learning and is an active member in the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Metro Denver Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Outside of work, Dr. Kopytek enjoys being with family, traveling, winter sports, mountain biking, and spending time outdoors with her three dogs.

Over the past decade, Lisa has held various management roles across the healthcare continuum, including skilled nursing facilities, integrated community mental health, state contracts, and youth residential facilities. Marisa received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado and her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Adam’s State University.  Marisa has worked in the field of counseling for nine years and has primarily worked with adolescents and adult populations. She uses several evidence-based modalities and is trained in EMDR, MI, DBT, SFBT, and TF-CBT. Marisa is a Licensed Addictions Counselor and oversees the supervision of LACs in training. Marisa has experience treating individuals with trauma related disorders such as PTSD and Acute Stress Disorders. She has worked with individuals with BPD and has helped in running a comprehensive DBT program to treat adolescents with a BPD diagnosis. She also has experience in treating depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, bi-polar disorders, personality disorders, thought disorders, and ADHD.

Marisa believes that the health the wellness of the community members is her first priority. She is dedicated to working for non-profit organizations in hopes that she can help the most people in our mountain populations. Marisa is a 25-year-Summit County local and enjoys snowboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, paddleboarding, reading, and hanging with her dogs.

I have experience working with people with disabilities and in a clinical setting with Mental Health Center Denver where I worked with people who had suffered from homelessness and trauma. The majority of my career has been focused on working with children and adolescents in school settings. I obtained a specialization in School Social Work which focused on mediation, working with students with disabilities and academic interventions for children. Charlie received his master’s degree in transpersonal wilderness therapy from Naropa University, and works from a client centered perspective, empowering them to find their unique inner strength. When possible, Charlie loves to integrate his background by working with nature-based practices, mindfulness techniques, and experiential learning to help clients find growth and insight in their lives. She went on to obtain her Master of Clinical Social Work from The University of Kansas. Brianna has a wide range of experience working with trauma with clients across the lifespan. She specializes in trauma psychotherapy and sex therapy. She is trained in EMDR and various other modalities that inform her practice; Brianna's approach to therapy is holistic, relational, and rooted in attachment-science. As a former educator, Jess has her Master's of Arts in Teaching, Master of Arts in English, and now a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Jess feels passionately about supporting youth navigating the challenges of early life and adolescence. Yirka is a bilingual (English - Spanish) and bicultural mental health provider originally from Peru who has lived in Summit County since 2014. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the Sacred Heart Women’s University in Peru and received her master's degree in social work from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work in 2024 and is currently working toward her license in clinical social work (LCSW). Her clinical work focuses on supporting young children and adults using different interventions such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Mindfulness, as she strongly believes in the positive impacts of mind-body connections. In her work, Yirka has helped individuals experiencing major challenges such as anxiety, depression, immigration grief, domestic violence, and loss and grief. 

Yirka has worked in different roles in the community in the past 10 years and has learned to combine her skills and passion for mental health and social justice. Prior to joining Elevated Community Health, Yirka worked with FIRC, SMART with Sherrif's Office, and Mountain Dreamers. In her free time, Yirka volunteers with the Summit Foundation as a board member, and Mountain Scholars with Colorado Mountain College as a mentor.
